Last updated 21st August 2016. A pickled cucumber is commonly known as a pickle in the United States and Canada or generically as gherkins in the United Kingdom.
It is a cucumber that has been pickled in a brine, vinegar, or other solution and left to ferment for a period of time.
This is by either immersing the cucumbers in an acidic solution or through souring by lacto-fermentation. (source)
So can hamsters eat dill pickles at all?
No they cant unfortunately.
They are too acidic for them as they are pickled in brine or vinegar and hamsters just cannot handle this.
They will hurt their stomach’s and will make them sick.
