Last updated August 16th, 2016. Popcorn is a type of corn that expands from the kernel and puffs up when heated.
Popcorn is able to pop like amaranth grain, sorghum, quinoa, and millet.
When heated, pressure builds within the kernel, and a small explosion (or “pop”) is the end result.
Some strains of corn are now cultivated specifically as popping corns.
Popcorn can be cooked with butter or oil.
Buttered popcorn is that uses butter in the preparation of it, or butter-flavored oil which actually makes the popcorn less soggy. (source)
So can hamsters eat buttered popcorn?
They can nibble it, but it isn’t a good food for them to eat in general.
Un-buttered plain popcorn is much better for them.
